UAN Employer Portal - Unified Employer Portal for EPF Employers

Starting Dec 2016, EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organization) has brought new changes in UAN and ECR (Electronic Challan cum Return) system used by employers under the so called UAN 2.0 and ECR 2.0 versions. On Dec 17, 2016, govt closed down existing UAN Employer portal and released new UAN employer portal under the name of Unified Employer Portal (unifiedportal-emp). Alternate name of the employer portal is Employer E-Sewa.

Employers need to regularly report to EPFO about employees contribution of EPF, wages etc. With the introduction of new system, UAN has become mandatory and hence there is a change in the overall process used by employers to report EPF India deduction.

UAN Employer Portal - ECR (Electronic Challan cum Return 2.0)

There has been following primary changes in ECR filing:

  1. Previously employers used to file ECR by mentioning details of the employee like their name and contribution. And only later need to apply for UAN. Now Employers will need to first get the UAN of the employee and only then they will be able to file ECR.

  2. With new changes concept of member id has been removed and UAN has become the main key in the ECR. That is, with this change the money will credited against the UAN number.

  3. New field of gross wages has been added and need to be submitted alongwith basic salary.

On the Unified UAN Employer portal, the employer will have following options after login on the site:

  1. ECR Upload (allows to upload both the regular monthly return and the arrear ECR file.)
  2. Direct Challan Entry
  3. View Challans

Typical flow used by employer will be:

  1. Upload ECR
  2. Verify
  3. Prepare Challan
  4. Finalise Challan
  5. Pay

Click On Member, followed by REGISTER - INDIVIDUAL and it will show the user registration form. Following information is asked:

Bulk UAN Registration
