India Elections 2017 - Voter List

We will be having a number of state elections in 2017, apart from by-polls that are held as per case to case basis. As usual, the one of the most important aspects of ensuring a fair election is to ensure that voter list is correct and up-to-date.

The standard operating procedure (of election commission of India) is to have a new voter list ready 2-3 months before the elections. This provides an opportunity to make corrections (e.g., people moving to different places, death etc) and additions (i.e., new voters turning 18).

Over the years, Election commission (ECI) and corresponding state-wise chief electoral offices (CEO) have made decent progress on digitisation and now it is possible to query online if your name is their in the voter list and if yes, the details like your voter id (also called EPIC) and polling booth.

Following are main state elections (legislative assembly elections) coming in 2017 and their tentative dates:

Punjab 2017 Elections

Uttar Pradesh 2017 Elections

Uttarakhand 2017 Elections

Manipur 2017 Elections

Goa 2017 Elections

Gujarat 2017 Elections
