EPF Member Passbook not available - at UAN Portal
Know what to do if you are getting the error message - "member passbook not available" while trying to download member passbook from UAN Portal (Member e-Sewa portal).
During last year, EPFO has tried to digitize and simplify all procedure to make life easier for subscribers. To do this, it has issued UAN (universal account numbers) to all subscribers and created a UAN portal or e-Sewa Portal to provide all functions.
One of the most important feature of the website is the 'Download Passbook'. If you go the 'Download Passbook' page, you will see:
- A message 'Latest passbook will be available only after 4 days for New UAN login activated members.'
- A button saying 'Download Passbook'
Now-a-days we are hearing about people having problem in downloading passbook. Once you click on 'download passbook', it takes lot of time and then gives a error message through a popup window - "uanmembers.epfoservices.in says: Member passbook not available". For me personally, this used to work earlier (i.e., it is not a new UAN account), but it has stopped working now since a month or two.
One common workaround is to try again and again as this may be due to overload on the epfoservices website. But to really get around this problem, we can rely on sms based service to check epf balance. Basically you send sms 'EPFOHO UAN ENG' to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number and you get a sms back containing your pf balance details.
